Why MAKAI?

Makai is Hawaiian for "seaward". SY MAKAI is always heading for the seas as this is her natural habitat.

Do I have to know how to sail to charter SY MAKAI?

For bareboat charters (ie. charters without a skipper), yes, you will need to know how to sail.

If you're new to sailing, we're offering skippered charters with an experienced captain.

Can we sail SY MAKAI west of the Golden Gate Bridge?

Yes, you can: SY MAKAI is fully equipped for offshore sailing with depth/speed sensor, wind sensor, Ray50 VHF radio, cockpit VHF microphone, AIS 650 transceiver, P70S autopilot + ACU400 core unit & gyrocompass, autopilot wireless remote, 2x Raymarine Axiom Pro 9 multifunction touchscreen chartplotter, Quantum radar, EPIRB.

That said: Navigation west of the Golden Gate Bridge is restricted to skippers with US Sailing CPM or higher certifications, obtained through Club Nautique.
